$29.95
This cross is designed to replicate Skibereen Cross in County Cork, Ireland.

It is made in the USA of a cast stone material.

There is a built in hanger on the back. It is 9 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide.

STORY:
Skibbereen is a thriving market town, regarded as the capital of the area known as The Carberies. Situated on the River Ilen, it was founded after Algerian pirates sacked the neighboring port of Baltimore in 1631 carrying off 200 inhabitants into slavery.

In the 17th century it produced two 'battling bishops': one was killed in 1602 fighting the forces of Queen Elizabeth, and the other was hanged on Cromwell's orders in 1650. The coastline from Ross Carber to Baltimore twists round creeks, sandy bays, harbors and headlands.

The the west of Skibbereen is Mizen Head, the most southwesterly tip of Ireland. The lighthouse Mizen Vision is reached by a bridge across a rocky chasm. Learn More

Killashandra Cross
$29.95
This cross is designed to replicate Killashandra Cross in County Cavan in Ireland.

It is made in the USA of a cast stone material.

There is a built in hanger on the back. It is 8 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide.

STORY:
The people of County Cavan have a saying: There is a lake in the county for every day of the year. The area around the small village of Killashandra is a pleasure ground for boating and anglers as well as pleasant walks.

The waterways were once the 'highways' along which the early Celtic settlers traveled. The region was then densely forested. Their fortifications and burial sights are scattered everywhere.

The cross has a triskel at the center which is a symbol of the Triune God, or the Trinity. The cap on top represents the small thatched churches of the early Celtic people. The shaft and arms are delightfully covered with shamrocks, the symbol of the Trinity and an everlasting symbol of Ireland itself. Learn More

Manx Crucifix Cross
$0.00
Out of stock
This cross is designed to replicate Manx Crucifix Cross on the Isle of Man.

It is made in the USA of a cast stone material.

There is a built in hanger on the back. It is 8 inches long and 8 inches wide.

STORY:
On a small island off the southwest coast of the Isle of Man comes one of the most evocative Celtic Crucifixion sculptures.

The most delicate piece of Manx carving that has survived, it was carved in the late eighth century and may have been a part of an altar. It was found among the ruins of an early Christian Chapel.

This cross shows Christ dressed in an elaborate robe with a roundel of knotwork over his chest, representing the heart as the spiritual center.

Early Celtic representations of the crucifixion show Christ triumphant over death. Chris is often clothed, sometimes magnificently so, with his arms wide open. In showing Christ as triumphant over death, they were showing that mortal humans could also triumph over death by their belief in Jesus Christ.

Kells South Cross
$0.00
Out of stock
This cross is designed to replicate Kells South Cross in Kells, County Meath, in Ireland.

It is made in the USA of a cast stone material.

There is a built in hanger on the back. It is 16 1/2 inches long and 7 inches wide.

STORY:
Kells Monastery, founded by St. Collmcille, became a great center of Christian learning and instruction. The South Cross was created in the early ninth century and is 11 feet high. An inscription on the east base translates: The Cross of Patrick and Columba.

The two men with intricately intertwined limbs and bodies at the bottom of the shaft shows the custom of Irish storytellers in which they sit facing each other with their legs intertwined and pull their beards as a sign that what they were saying was true and accurate.

In the Crucifixion scene there is the sponge-bearer on the right and the spear-bearer on the left. Above each of Christ's arms is a seated person; personified as the sun and the moon. Sol holds a torch and has a rayed disk above his head. Luna has a plain moon disk above her head.

On the head of the cross is Christ in majesty. Surrounding Christ are the Four Evangelists in the guise of their symbols, each holding his gospel. The winged lion for Mark, the winged calf for Luke, the Eagle for John and the Man-Angel for Matthew, holding aloft the Lamb in a wreath.

2: Chief Butler (left) hands the drinking horn to Pharaoh.
3: Christ handing the key to Peter (right) and the book of the New Testament to Paul (left).
Center: The Last Judgment - Christ carrying the cross-staff and scepter. Good souls on left coming to Christ or heaven - bad souls on right going away from Christ to the devil.

Entanglements Plaque
$39.95
This plaque is made in the USA of a cast stone material.

There is a built in hanger on the back. It is 5 inches tall by 9 inches wide.

STORY:
This design is from the bottom panel of the cross on the 8th century Aberlemno Cross-Slab in Aberlemno, Scotland.

The knotwork in this panel is formed with one continuous line which wanders apparently aimlessly across the entire panel before returning to its starting point.

Knotwork symbolizes those parts of your psyche which bind you, distracts or entangles your mind - your habits, your desires, those things which you believe you are entitled to. The knotwork is a warning - to point out that you are unconscious of true reality - that you see the world only through your desires and fears. Knotwork also expresses the concept that all things living are interconnected.
